7 Clearwater-St. Pete Fall Events That Welcome Families
Clearwater Super Boat Championship
Have a need for speed? Head over to the Clearwater Super Boat Championship in September. This three-day event features a parade to kick off the fun, live entertainment all three days and plenty of parties – some worth the VIP ticket as well. On night two, visit Pier 60 after the races for post-race party and fireworks show. Day three ends with an awards ceremony at Coachman Park.
Bonus: Don’t miss the Seafood Festival happening at the same time! Boats and seafood … now that’s a winning combination.
Clearwater Jazz Holiday
Held at Coachman Park, visitors not only enjoy the musical styles of artists such as The Temptations, The Four Tops, Kenny Loggins, The Avett Brothers and plenty more, but also witness gorgeous sunsets and warm ocean breezes at the four-day Clearwater Jazz Holiday in October. Bring a blanket and chair to ensure maximum comfort each night, and arrive early to snag the best seats. Music lovers can purchase day passes or packages for the whole festival.
Clearwater Beach Chalk Walk
This free three-day event in October features over 40 artists transforming the sidewalks of Clearwater Beach into works of art for all to see. The chalk walk also offers activities beyond admiring the art, including a family-friendly kids zone, arts and crafts, vendors, and live music. At this favorite among Clearwater-St. Pete fall events, visitors also vote on their favorites in the People’s Choice Award all three days.
SHINE St. Pete Mural Festival
St. Petersburg radiates a creative and vibrant spirit, which is reflected at the SHINE St. Pete Mural Festival held in October. Local artists and community members gather for this art project that is “intended to illuminate the power of art in public spaces by revitalizing areas, inspiring dialogue and uniting our community—while cultivating new standards of artistic excellence.” Art lovers can take a self-guided tour, or opt for a tour on two wheels with a guide. There are plenty of photo and video ops during the tour.
John’s Pass Seafood Festival
Fill up on delicious seafood at the John’s Pass Seafood Festival in Madeira Beach, just north of St. Pete Beach. The festival ranks as one of the largest in the U.S., and features live entertainment, fresh Gulf seafood, plenty of sunshine, a Halloween costume contest and block party, Battle of the Gulf Fishing Tournament, and the World’s Largest Bloody Mary Toast on the final day. Come hungry, leave happy.
Top of the Bay Oktoberfest
Just a short drive to the other side of the peninsula on Tampa Bay, families will find the area’s largest Oktoberfest in late October. Top of the Bay Oktoberfest has been a local favorite for over 22 years, and it is easy to see why. With plenty of beer, lederhosen, authentic German music and food, contests and dancing, the family-friendly event makes any vacation extra special.
Bonus: Admission is only $5 and kids 12 and under are free!
St. Pete Ribfest
It’s a battle for the best ribs this side of the Mississippi at the St. Pete Rockin’ Ribs, Helpin’ Kids Ribfest in November. Festival-goers flock to the sweet smell of cooking ribs while enjoying entertainment by top talent including the likes of ZZ Top and The Charlie Daniel’s Band. To round out the day, play at the family fun zone, Rockin’ Pig Saloon, and find plenty of crowd pleasing eats such as funnel cakes, deep fried delights, and a make-your-own soda bar.
Bonus: Ribfest also helps give back to local youth organizations and has donated over $4.8 million to over 40 organizations. So, enjoy the day and do good while on vacation!
